Hanoch Piven, the renowned international illustrator, has created a new visual language using everyday items and common objects to capture essential characteristics of the celebrities he illustrates. His works and caricatures pose riddles for the observer, and provoke smiles upon recognition of the people depicted in the illustrations.
Pivens’ works have been published for more than two decades in many of the worlds’ leading magazines (Times, Newsweek, Rolling Stones and many others) and he has received numerous awards for his caricatures. Several books of his works have been published, including a number children’s books - "What Presidents are made of" (Simon and Schuster, chosen by Time Magazine as one of the best 10 children books of 2004), "My Dog Smells Like Dirty Socks" (Random House) and more.
   
Drawing with Objects Workshop has been developed by Piven after years of working with children and adults. Embraced by both art-therapists and management consultants, it is an efficient tool for raising subconscious issues and creating awareness through play. In the workshop, meant for adults and children alike, people re-discover the child-like easy-going way in which they can create without being critical of themselves and of their works. Making collages with objects is an aperture to free association, training your right brain and letting intuition guide you.
Drawing with Objects in Tao’s Center is a 2-day workshop built of morning and afternoon sessions. The first day will begin with an opportunity to get to know Piven and his work, followed by fun quick exercises dedicated to acquiring the visual language, individually as well as in groups. At the end of the day we will go out to the island looking at it with ’fresh eyes’ by searching for junk objects for our work. The second day will focus on a more accurate and profound process of creating a self-portrait. Below are few examples of last years’ workshop.
